PIETY
The arts, design and handwork have always been a part of my life. Raised in a Pennsylvania German family, I learned to sew as a child. My handwork was set aside for college studies in the fine arts, but I would soon find my way back to needle and thread. After college, I returned to my roots with a renewed interest in its history and folkart. Inspired by a pre-Civil War horse filled with sawdust, I began the line of sawdust filled figures I create today. The birds in the collection of work, resemble three dimensional fraktur. This work has brought my journey through the arts full circle, bringing together my love of design and handwork.
I have been chosen many years for Early American Life magazines Directory of Best Traditional Craftsmen. I exhibit my work on the east coast and it is found in private collections in the United States as well as Europe.
