Nathan’s Forge is owned and managed by Nick Vincent, a professional blacksmith with over twenty years experience. He trained under some of the country’s leading blacksmiths and is now the president of the Mid-Atlantic Smith’s Association. His work has been featured in national magazines and newspapers and is in private collections across the nation. A major contributor to the blacksmithing community, he frequently teaches and demonstrates blacksmithing techniques.
Our ironwork is made in much the same fashion as it was two hundred years ago: the iron is heated hot in a forge and hammered by hand on an anvil. This process is augmented by a few pieces of modern equipment that allows us to produce hardware in somewhat greater volume and at more advantageous prices. Most of the items are copied or styled after antiques from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. But there are also some modern whimsical forgings.
