PAISLEY POOCH
My carving style is characterized by free flowing lines, attention to detail and a touch of humor. Inspired by early American weathervanes, pulltoys, trade signs and figures, my original designs are offered in limited edition. Each piece is carved from pine or basswood and meticulously painted with acrylics. All works are signed, numbered and dated.
Frequent use of other materials in my work adds visual and tactile interest and allows for creative freedom. Copper is used extensively for fish fins and rooster tails, as well as for ornaments on many of my figurative works. Animals have leather ears, horns from brass or clay, while cigar store Indians receive a trademark apple seed necklace.
After eighteen years of carving, my creative focus was drawn into other fields. In 2004 I launched this site (TFA) and have been working full time as a web designer since, although I may still have a few carvings left in me...
