TWINS
Jackie began her pursuits while doing research for the restoration of her 1740 farmstead, Colonial Yard, near Valley Forge, Pennsylvania in 1968. Since 18th century artwork and accessories were not readily available or affordable, she learned how to do many of the renovations herself as well as produce many of the art forms - Fraktur to Scherenschnitte and Brides’ Boxes to Dolls. Requests were made to purchase her works and hence, her career as a traditional artist began.
Jackie creates genre paintings of former times, timeless sheep, still lifes and portraits. Layering the paint like painters of earlier centuries, she achieves the depth and look of the 18th century paintings. The oils, original dolls and watercolors are now the mainstays of her career. Her watercolors are done on vintage paper and in period frames. Her hand-stitched dolls are hand sculpted with sawdust-stuffed cloth bodies and dressed in period children’s clothes.
